Chicken Librarian Reads Update

Update: hi friends! I have to move our book discussion group to the third TUESDAY of the month. Same time, same place. I've updated all the information below, on Facebook, and the events calendar. My apologies for the inconvenience!

Friends! I have great news! The book group is really going strong! And that is very exciting. So exciting that I have picked books for the rest of 2020. I polled a facebook group that I'm a 'member' of and then asked around other places (facebook, instagram, here) and compiled a list of all the recommended books. Then I entered all those books into a random name generator and came up with these three books to help us close out 2020. I do hope you'll join me in reading and then discussing!

October:

For October we will read and discuss The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. I've read this book before and it is quite a powerful book. I'm not sure if I'm looking forward to it or not, knowing what happens. But I'm always happy to discuss such powerful books. And I think our group members are as well. You can find the book via your favorite online book store, your local library, or any other reading platform. I normally download an ebook from my local library's online platform. You can find the event on facebook here. You can also get the link to the discussion here.

November:

For November we'll read and discuss All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr. I haven't read this book and actually don't know a whole lot about it. So I'm excited to read something new! You can find the book via your favorite online book store, your local library, or any other reading platform. I normally download an ebook from my local library's online platform. You can find the event on facebook here. You can also get the link to the discussion here.

December:

And to close out the year, in December we'll read The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood. This book has long been on my 'must read' list. In fact, I downloaded it to read while I was away last week, but didn't get to it. So I'm happy that it has come up in rotation for our discussion! I love a good 'doomsday', apocalyptic book and can't wait to sink my teeth into this one (and the TV series too!). You can find the link to the Facebook event here. You can also get the link for the discussion here.

So! What do you think? Will you join me? Do you have a book you want to recommend the group reads? Let me know and I'll add it to the list! Happy reading friends.

'til next time
