Knit, Knit, Knit
Hey y'all! How are you? I've been very busy trying to get things ready for the May 25th vendor event. It seems like you have so much time and then time just flies! I'm 2 weeks out from the event and still have a lot to do. I've been knitting. A lot. Every chance I get, in fact. But I've also been getting salve prep done. I still have to print all my labels, make the salve, label the salve. Knit. Weave in ends. Block the knitted products. Label the products. But everything has been ordered and now I'm just waiting on final delivery of the rack cards. There's only a few days of school left so I'll have some time at the end of school to wrap everything up. But I thought I would show you the knitting thus far.
I've been working on these super cute hats. The pattern is Barley from Tin Can Knits and the children's hats are made using Knit Pick Swish yarn. It's not my normal yarn I use, but I thought it would be good for the children's hats since it's washable. I'm hoping to make a couple more children's and then move on to some adult hats. I think the blue one wants a pompom too. I also have the hats listed in my shop, plus I'm working on one more color block.
I've also finished the arm warmers plus I have two pairs of gloves that need the thumbs knitted up. Then I hope I can get some quick mittens knitted up. Those will be the last things to work on. Once I get everything else knitted and blocked plus all the salve made, labeled, and the rest of my items together I'll see where I'm at.
I am selling printed pictures with matting, postcards with my pictures (both individually and as a bundle), salves (three sizes), lipbalm, and knitted products. I have to label my bags, buy tissue paper and twine (tried doing that this past week but the store was cleaned out!). As I said above I have rack cards that I just ordered that should be here a few days before the big event! I would like to do a 'dry run' of putting my table together to see what that will look like too. What else? Oh, school was closed for a couple of days this week because of a power outage. I used that time wisely. But I'm also working a lot in the next 11 days so I will definitely have to use every spare minute I can. I'm starting to panic a little. We have our next pie along coming up on Monday. I'm really excited about that.
I'm going on Monday to have all my labels and cards printed. I need to make a list of what I need. But it will be a lot! I need labels for the outside of the bags, labels for salve (both logo labels and ingredient labels for the round tins), logo bands and ingredient labels for the 4 oz salves, lipbalm labels, knitted product cards (with care instructions, etc.), labels for the back of the matted pictures. I think that's it!
Oh! I had my first homesteading class this past week. That was good. I learned a lot from my co-host about ditching the toxic cleaners. Once I have some time to breath, I'll start researching how to use the non-toxic ingredients that I already have. I'm excited about that. Plus we started a homesteading group where we can help each other out with finding local resources, help with putting up our bounty, and all other sorts of homesteading matters. That's very exciting!
But, for now, does anyone want to come over and help get some labels on things? I could use a spare set of hands! I'll keep you updated as I move along. It will probably be very quiet here the next couple of weeks as I am slowly moving through my to-do list. Unfortunately this all means that I need to skip this week's "One Moment" post. But I'll be back next week to pick it back up! Until next time my friends!
