On the Road
Hey y'all! How are you? In case you don't know, I've been on the road for about 2 weeks now. The trip started with a trip to (just outside) Philadelphia for a funeral...although it didn't feel like a somber occasion but more of a celebration of our dear friend and of life in general. After the funeral we traveled to New Jersey for the flyfishing trade show. It was my first one. Y'all...the Mister has been attending this show (as a representative of the fishing lodge) for the better part of 19 years. And it was the first time I've ever attended. It was a riot! We ate lots of good food, saw lots of fun things, caught up with some friends that I haven't seen in years (one friend I hadn't seen in 15 years!!). You know how it goes. They start as interns at the fishing lodge, then become guides, then move on to greener pastures. They grow up. Get married. Move out West. Etc. etc. you get the idea. It was so nice to see so many people that I've met and gotten to know through the fishing lodge. There was even a new tattoo! That's right. I added to my little chicken tattoo at the fishing show! I told you it was a riot. Then I left the Mister to fend for himself and I hopped a plane to Tennessee to see my family. My parents are giving the Mister and me a truck. That's exciting! But I have to get the truck from TN to PA. So while the Mister is taking care of the homestead, I'm tasked with visiting the family, of course. It's such a hardship! HAHAHA! It's been a long time since I've been to TN (two years). So here I am in the wee hours of the morning catching you all up on the activities and sharing some photos. You'll have to forgive me for not using my big camera for most of these pictures. There hasn't been a lot of extra time, what in between visiting with my parents, taking the nephews to the movies, cooking dinner, shopping (do you see my book haul from the local used book store?!?!), just all around running around! But I was able to snap a few pics with my camera but most of the pictures are from my phone.
And let me tell you about that truck! Oh, heart eyes emoji. It's a beaut. It's big and spacious and in great shape. I can't wait to have fun with her. Driving her back is going to be fun. My little Subaru, aka the grocery getter, is nice but she sits low to the ground. Not this beast. This beast sits up high. You can see all around you. Plus there's lots of room for stuff. Like homesteading stuff. And class stuff. I can't wait to drive her to my classes with all my stuff tucked in the back. Sigh. Anyway, here's a quick glimpse of the past 2 weeks, in no particular order. I hope you all are doing well and having fun too!
And don't forget about the following upcoming events:
1. Next book discussion--February 4th
2. Maple Syrup on the Homestead
til next time
