The Berkshires
Long before there was the "BIG MOVE", there was a girls weekend. Sometimes in the midst of turmoil, you've got to grab your best girlfriends and hit the road. Time away is a good thing sometimes. So that's exactly what I did. I had booked myself for a speaking engagement at the Workshop Experience at the Taconic Ridge Farm in Hillsdale, NY, and the girls agreed to go! We rented the cutest house ever. We had a really good time hanging in the Berkshires. My speaking engagement was fun and I even booked a homestead visit with one of my participants. I'm so glad I was able to get away before the BIG MOVE!
The Guthrie Center
We visited the Guthrie Center, even though it was closed. There was still lots to see! We also hit up a couple of breweries. Notice my friends foot in the background. hehehe. One of the funniest things about the trip was that we only traveled about 3 hours away from home, but went through 5 states! AND we went between 3 states on a regular basis. For example, we stayed in MA, went to a brewery in CT, and ate dinner in NY. It was kind of fun.
The Workshop Experience
How cute is the space where I gave my talk on setting up your homestead?!?! It's the former tack room at the Taconic Ridge Farm! It was so cozy and intimate. All the participants were fantastic. It was so nice being able to get to know everyone and hear more about where people are on their journeys with homesteading.
The House!
How cute is this house?!?! Oh my goodness, y'all. This house was the best house we've stayed in so far! It was historic and very tastefully remodeled. And all those snacks! My goodness. Did we have the snacks covered! Nobody went hungry on this trip. Speaking of. We had such a great meal the first night. We went to a place call "Old Mill". Friends. The food was so good! The drinks were so good! The dessert (lemon meringue sundae) was to die for! We visited Hillsdale, NY (a couple of times. We had ice cream and lunch right in Hillsdale), we visited Great Barrington for a day of shopping and the farm market. We had a night in of dinner and puzzling. We stayed up way too late working that puzzle! Haha. Needless to say, it was a great girls trip (dare I say the best trip yet! They just keep getting better and better).
I highly recommend getting away with your best girlfriends. And I also highly recommend a stay in the Berkshires! There's so much to do and so much to see!
'til next time
