Chicken Librarian Reads update
Hey guys! Soooo....let's change directions with the book group. I didn't have anyone join me for the bee book discussions (here and here) and I can understand why. It was a little technical. I had a hard time getting into it. Let's not make this a boring book group but a fun, interactive one, yes?! So, let's grab a copy of Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver and discuss it instead. It seems very appropriate for homesteading, or just eating seasonally and locally. It's pretty appropriate for me right now (hint, hint).
I love Kingsolver's writing anyway. I've been reading her for years. And I like that she tackles eating locally and seasonally at a time when it wasn't necessarily the 'hip' thing to do. I have a post coming up later this week that will make more sense as to why this book is very very timely for me. And I appreciate Tracy and Bekah for suggesting it (so now they both have to join me for the discussion. LOL!).
I'd like to move the discussion to Tuesday. For some reason Monday seems to be a hard day for me to get a blog post done! So what do you think about this time line and reading guide:
January 7, 2020: through chapter 5
January 21, 2020: chapters 6-10
February 4, 2020: chapters 11-15
February 18, 2020: chapters 15-20 and wrap up
Does that seem doable? Want to read a little faster? I'm totally open. Let me know if you'll be joining me! I've pushed everything back til after the Holidays so you can take your time and enjoy a slow read while enjoying your holiday celebrations!
My apologies to The Beekeeper's Handbook. This was in no way a slight to that book. We'll tackle beekeeping another time. In the meantime, enjoy your holiday and happy reading friends!
