Homestead Update #27
Hi friends! How are you? I'm doing okay. Things were a bit cray-cray last week with the holiday and all and I do have a jam-packed updated for you! I've also moved over to my brother's house for the next month so that's exciting news! I'm going to stay here through the holidays and then slowly start making my way back north. Anna Lee and I are excited to be at the house with the nephews and their two crazy dogs! Anyway, I promised some more older photos that I haven't used, plus a brief update from the past week or so! I'll wait while you grab a cup of coffee....
First there was a puzzle competition
One of my friends and I competed in a puzzle tournament a couple of months ago. We were the only two person team and we came in second!! That was exciting! I also love that "Be Kind" bag from my friend Pumpkinseed Chainstitch. It's a good reminder to just be kind. Oh. The first puzzle pictured above is one I did in preparation for the tournament. I did it without using the overall picture as much as I normally would. It took me about 4 hours to complete by myself. We had 2 hours to complete the chosen puzzle (last picture above) so I thought 4 hours by myself was pretty good!
Random
Just some random pictures from this past year that I didn't share. I want to keep a good record of all the things. So a quick rundown: both kitties in the boat; blueberry buckle that I made with fresh picked wild blueberries; critters I purchased to make holiday snow globes; random pics of Anna Lee on our walks; Buddy the Rooster; Buddy's favorite spot (on my head); Corny snuggled up on the bed.
Shameless Shelfies
Very random selfies! I don't think I shared them here. Most of them are either from my walks or from teaching a class.
Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving was good. It was nice to be able to celebrate it with my family this year. The youngest two nephews wanted to decorate gingerbread houses and I had found these cute farm themed gingerbread houses at Tractor Supply so I was happy to have the help! I was also happy to be able to make some of my favorite Thanksgiving dishes this year too. One was sausage, apple, cranberry stuffing (can't remember which recipe I used but it has sausage, apples, cranberries, mushrooms, and sage). And the other was a bourbon chocolate pecan pie. Both were a big hit! I was a little rusty making both. I'd like to improve on the stuffing since it's been YEARS since I've made stuffing. But the pie was spot on (at least I think it was).
The Rest of the Story
As for the rest of the story, I've just been busy. Working for the inn remotely has been keeping me busy, as has visiting with my family. I've settled on a Christmas card for this year (pictured above). I'll get those in the mail this week. If you would like one, send me a note with your address and I'll get it in the mail to you. I still have all my Christmas shopping to do yet. I think I've just been so covered up with getting back on my feet that I just haven't had an extra thought to spare. But Christmas will be here before you know it! All the other pictures above are just random things that I've taken pictures of. I'm still working on my photography course. I somehow set my camera to shoot in RAW format and for the life of me I can't figure out how to change it. I don't even know what RAW format is. HAHA.
Anyway, I'll stop here for today. Just know that I am finally enjoying my time in TN and I'm looking forward to all the things that the future holds. I've had good conversations with girlfriends lately. The ones who are patiently waiting for me to get back north so we can figure out the future together. I love that.
'til next time
