It’s Yarn Along time again! And I’m actually participating once again. I’ll admit I haven’t really been reading anything lately. I’ve tried a couple of books but nothing is keeping my interest. Until I picked up Victuals by Ronni Lundy. If you read this post then you’ll know I’m trying to find my focus–focus on photography, focus on homesteading. My intentions are to focus on Appalachia and try to tell a story. Or stories. I was inspired to do that after picking up Victuals. I’ll do a book review once I’m finished reading it, but for now I’m taking my time. Savoring as much of the book as I can. Learning more about the place I grew up. Studying the photography. Picking out recipes to try.

If you’ve been following along for any length of time (ahem…a week) then you’ll know that I’ve applied for, and been accepted, to set up a vendor table at an upcoming event in my town. I’m going to sell my knitted products so I’ve been knitting like crazy. Right now I’m trying to finish the second arm warmer to match the one above, but things have been cray-cray around here. I had to order a bunch of stuff for the vendor table and some supplies for some of my upcoming classes that I’m teaching. Plus my pie and cake making schedule is heavy right now. But I’ve got three weeks to get some knitting done. I feel slightly anxious, but confident, that I can get it done. I don’t really have a goal set with how much I think I’ll need. I’m not sure if that’s adding to, or helping reduce, my anxiety level.

I’m using up a lot of my stash yarn for these projects. The yarn above is Peace Fleece that I bought years ago at the Masonville General Store. I have this maroon color but I also had a mustard yellow that I made into a shawl that I just love. I wear it all. the. time in the winter. I’m hoping these simple little arm warmers will be a hit. Anyway, I don’t remember too much about the yarn–in terms of weight, color, etc. I just like it, I like their story, and I think the yarn works for this project. The more I delve into my homesteading life, the more and more I’m looking for companies that source their products in the United States, and the closer to me the better.

I hope you’re having fun reading and knitting. Oh. I forgot to mention that I’m joining Ginny over at Small Things for the Yarn Along! I got so carried away with wanting to tell you about the book and yarn that I almost forgot! I’ll be back later to take a look at all the other fabulous Yarn Along posts! I always learn so much when I take the time to participate. Until then, friends!

Also just found Frontier Dreams has a Crafting On link up so I think I’ll join in there too!
