Friends. I am so happy to announce the next six weeks of Chicken Librarian Makes classes! I started these make alongs on a whim at the beginning of the COVID shutdowns and they seem to be gaining some momentum. So I’m just going to keep on doing them until no one shows up (which might be July 4th!). Anyway. I have

We’ll start July off with another cheesemaking session. For this session, on July 4th, we’ll talk all about goats milk, how to source it, what to do if you can’t find a local source of goat’s milk, and then we’ll make…goats milk! So if you’ve wanted to know more about making cheese using goat’s milk, now’s your opportunity. Just head over to my facebook live event on July 4th at 10AM and sit back and watch (and ask questions!) about making cheese!

I’m excited to introduce new guest hosts to my Chicken Librarian Makes series. For July 18th, Farmer John from Triple H Farm, will join us to put us through the paces of grinding our own meat. We’ll use some venison and some pork fat to start with and then John will give us alternatives to using fat. John is a seasoned homesteader and cast iron skillet user and, if we’re lucky, he’ll give us a few tips on cooking our ground meat! So on July 18th, hop on over to the facebook live event to learn more about grinding (and cooking) meat!

On July 18th, we’re back to making homemade pasta. But this time we’re adding some fun and unusual twists to our pasta–we’re making chocolate pasta! Join me over on facebook live as we discuss this unusual way to make pasta and what to do with it! It promises to be fun and yummy!

I had a request for potpourri tutorials so here we are learning all about different ways to make potpourri. Potpourri isn’t just dried ingredients that you find at the craft store. Oh no! We’ll source our own ingredients from our kitchens, from our gardens, and from walks taken around our neighborhoods. Then we’ll discuss how to make dried AND fresh potpourri. You will not want to miss this! Have your house smelling like Christmas (during the Holiday season) with things that you have right at home. Or get a jump start on your holiday gift giving. So I hope you’ll join me on Saturday July 25th on Facebook for seasonal potpourri!!

Join me for another installment of foraging for food! This time we’re talking all about what we can find in late summer to eat and to use in our cooking. I’ll walk you through what’s in season and then we’ll make a thing or two with what we find! Maybe we’ll take this one on the road and actually take a walk! You’ll have to tune in on August 1st over on Facebook to find out.

If you’ve ever wanted to know how to ferment vegetables, then this Chicken Librarian Makes session is for you! I’ll walk you through the process of fermenting and then we’ll try our hand at easy fermenting. Join me on August 8th over on Facebook Live and let’s get our fermenting on!

And I can’t forget about our craft alongs! I’m changing things up a little. Instead of following along and making the same craft together, let’s just bring our own craft(s) and chat and make together. You can bring anything! We’ll meet up (virtually) on Tuesdays at 7PM and make and chat until 8PM. We’ve been doing this for a few weeks now and it is a lot of fun. It’s fun to see some blogger and IG friends, as well as some IRL friends and see where they live and what they are doing. We’ll keep doing this every week. If you are working on something and you’re stuck, bring that too! We’ll help each other out. See my events page for links to the virtual meet-ups!

I think that’s it. For now! I’m always looking to add classes and events so if there is something you’d like to see, just send me a note.

’til next time
