Hey friends! Remember from a couple of posts ago when I said I wanted to start making more? Well. I am carving out that time and, boy, have I got a treat for you today. I’m teaching a sourdough starter class tomorrow so I thought I would break out the starter and make a loaf of bread. I used Kat Goldin’s tutorial (if you don’t know Kat, you totally need to get to know her. Not only does she take the most beautiful pics, but she lives on a farm in Scotland and makes everything from scratch!). Anyway, my starter had been long dormant in the fridge and in preparation for my class, I got him out of the fridge, gave him a good stir, and then started feeding him. I was a little concerned that he had been dormant for too long, but he rebounded beautifully! You can see in the photos above that he’s bubbling away almost an hour after feeding him. That’s a great sign. I used him to make this beautiful loaf of bread. If you want the recipe, go give Kat’s website a visit. If you want to step-by-step tutorial, she has one on her Instagram page (see her story highlights!). That’s it friends. I just want to share this yummy loaf with you. I think I needed to bake it slightly longer but I’m always worried that I will overcook it. But now I know how the bread bakes up I will leave it in the oven longer next time. Now my starter just needs a name. It’s kinda a ‘thing’ when you have a starter. It must have a name. Any suggestions?
That’s it friends! That’s what I wanted to share with you this time. Sometimes I’ll have way more details and recipes. Sometimes it will just be ‘hey! I made this thing!’. I hope you have a great weekend.
’til next time

I have a yeast starter from my grandmother’s yeast and am struggling to get it to rise. Have mixed other yeasts with it in hopes of prompting it to thrive again but it is still struggling. Will check out Kat’s starter and maybe I can mix some of it in with mine. You have inspired me to keep trying. Gosh, your loaf looks bakery perfect.
